You would expect to see geometric patterns, psychedelic patterns reminiscent of doodle art type pages, fantasy images including angels, dragons, goddesses and mermaids, and ancient designs of religious and spiritual nature.

A comic book or comicbook, also called comic magazine or simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by descriptive prose and written narrative, usually, dialog contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form. Although comics has some origins in 18th century Japan, comic books were first popularized[disputed – discuss] in the United States and the United Kingdom during the 1930s. The first modern comic book, Famous Funnies, was released in the US in 1933 and was a reprinting of earlier newspaper humor comic strips, which had established many of the story-telling devices used in comics. The term comic book derives from American comic books once being a compilation of comic strips of a humorous tone; however, this practice was replaced by featuring stories of all genres, usually not humorous in tone.

Occasionally, you'll find official cartoon or TV character sites (such as PBS programs) will make available coloring pages for free to their fans. Older children may become bored with coloring and prefer to create their own images. This is a natural progression, and one parents should welcome. Nevertheless, coloring does have a place in child development and can become part of his or her daily routine. Some children may have difficulty expressing themselves; however, as they continue to be creative they will often start to open up more readily. Colouring is a great way to express themselves and their ideas, particularly if they have problems they do not know how to cope with. It is used to bring subconscious thoughts to the surface and help children to understand them. You might not realise it yet you are helping the environment as you do not need paper to draw and colour images.
